This Saturday, 24th, we travel to Sussex to take on Eastbourne Borough in the Vanarama National South.
Three games down so far this campaign, with 43 massive games to go for The Millers to reach the magic 50 points total as quickly as possible.
The season started with a trip to Welling which ended in a 1-0 defeat after a stunning strike from Taylor-Crossdale, following that we were held at home against an incredibly experienced Tonbridge Angels side, after leading twice, The Millers were pulled back after goals from the spot and a long-throw thwarted Aveley.
A quick turnaround meant we took on Hemel Hempstead on Monday evening. Hemel came with a new manager, and a squad largely turned over from last season which saw them defeat Aveley 1-0. The Millers also ended the game with nine men after Manny Ogunrinde was shown two yellow cards and Garrett Kelly was shown a straight red with what was pretty much the last kick of the game.
Next up now we travel to Eastbourne Borough, a full-time team who have spent well with the likes of Michael Klass who featured for Worthing and Maidstone United last season. Forward George Alexander who scored goals against us last season for Slough Town before George made the move to Chelmsford City, helping The Clarets to second place finish behind Yeovil Town. Also adding to their forward line is the signing of Alfie Pavey from Woking, the striker featured for Braintree Town last season before signing permanently for the National League side - before then re-joining The Iron to end the season.
Last season The Millers completed the double over Eastbourne, a 2-0 victory at home with goals from Jon Benton and Matt Rush - the reverse fixture was played in possibly the worst football conditions ever, as an Arjanit Krasniqi equaliser on the stroke of half time and a penalty slotted by Siju Odelusi secured a vital 2-1 victory.
However, Eastbourne are a different animal, and we will be looking to pull out an upset in East Sussex to try and secure a first victory of the campaign.
