Match Preview- Swifts v Millers

Aveley Football Club11 Jan 2016 - 17:47

Tuesday Night the Millers travel to Heybridge Swifts in order to try and get through to the last four of the Essex Senior Cup.

The Millers go into the match as the underdogs against a really strong Heybridge Swifts side who were recently made the team of the month for December after a great run of results. In contrast the Millers didn't have the greatest of December’s and go into this match as the underdogs, which leaves Heybridge Swifts as the strong favourites.

Heybridge recent form has been on a whole good and Jody Brown has managed to drag the Swift's out of the bottom three, and are now 2 points clear of Barkingside, who sit in 22nd.

A fantastic run in December helped the Swifts become the favourites for our Essex Senior Cup clash; knocking out League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge on penalties in the Essex Senior Cup, followed by a 1-0 win over title chasing AFC Hornchurch. Those two victories were matched by an amazing 3-0 away win on a Tuesday Night at Norfolk based Wroxham.

Whereas for the Millers, we have had to deal with players leaving, a change of mentality and a lot of injuries.], which has hampered and damaged the Millers form and play-off ambitions.

In December the match the Millers won was away at Thurrock FC, where both sides rested some first teamers, and it was Aveley who ran out with a comfortable 2-0 victory. The goals on the night came from Reece Conway and Petrit Elbi. The Millers then threw away three points against Dereham Town to draw, followed by defeats to AFC Sudbury and Thamesmead Town.

However unlike the hosts for Tuesday’s match, the Miller haven’t been able to have a competitive match this 2016 due to postponements but can take their 3-1 friendly victory over Brentwood Town into the match against the Swifts.

The match is in doubt due to the weather that has been forecasted but we will update as soon as possible when we learn more news on our social media accounts and on here as soon as we are informed.
