After a 3-2 victory over Bury Town, Millers boss, Justin Gardner has his say on the superb comeback from his youth players.

After Monday’s victory over Bury Town, Justin Gardner was pleased with the starting XI he could put out against the Suffolk Side.

“The most pleasing thing about Monday was that we started with a very attacking line-up.

But I will hold my hands up because I got it wrong, but I made a brave decision at half time to take a striker off and put on an extra centre midfielder. And with that it changed the game and we dominated the whole second half and did play some good football.”

After just 20 minutes the Millers were 2-0 down, but Aveley rallied to bring it back to 3-2 and get the three points.

“Being 2-0 down after 18 minutes and to then go and turn it around shows that the young team are improving mentally, as they already have the ability.”

Jack Edwards having been injured was back for his first match in a month which seemed to help the midfield take control of the match. “Having Jack [Edwards] back was massive, and I’m really happy he has recovered from his injury away at Witham Town and is now back fit.

When Abs Seymour scored to make it 1-2, little did he know that it was Aveley’s 100th goal of the season, that was followed by 101st and 102nd. “For a small club, with little resources to score 100 plus goals is a great achievement, and for the goals to come from all over the pitch, it is always nice to score from all different positions.”
