Millers get back to the 'bread and butter' of league matters tonight against the Blues.

Between now and the end of the season Aveley can now have full focus on the BetVictor North campaign, starting with tonight’s home encounter with Brentwood Town at Parkside.

The Millers have enjoyed a superb season to date and the magical run in the FA Trophy came to an end with a 5-0 quarter-final loss at National League side Notts County.

Saturday was a great occasion for the club, with 530 Millers fans making the trip up to Nottingham for the early kick-off and despite losing out, they walked off the pitch as our heroes, and received a rapturous round of applause from everyone in attendance at Meadow Lane at the weekend, including the home fans.

Aveley more than held their own for large parts of Saturday’s game against the National League side, with the score goalless with half an hour on the clock. However, three goals in the space of 14 minutes saw the Millers trail 3-0 at the break thanks to goals from Jim O’Brien, Tom Crawford and Sam Osbourne.

Kyle Wootton and Scott Wilson added to the Magpies goal tally after the break, but the Millers put in a spirited effort all round and will be keen to get back to winning ways this evening against a very familiar looking Brentwood Town side..

Tonight’s visitors are managed by former Millers coach and player Adam Flanagan, while there are a number of former Aveley players amongst the Blues squad, including Tim Brown, Connor Mead, Jack Edwards, Adam Topley, Reggie Hubbard, Andy Freeman, Marcus Milner, Marcus Elliott and James Pugsley to name just a few!

Last time out, the Blues lost 2-0 to Cambridge City thanks to a goal in either half from Mikey Davis and Tom Wood.

Flanagan’s side arrive at Parkside in 17th spot with 25 points from their 26 games to date and they’ve picked up six points from as many games under their new boss, with three of those points coming in a thrilling 4-3 win over in-form Tilbury, which was played at our ground due to the Blues’ issues with their Brentwood Arena pitch.

The Millers left it late to secure all three points at Brentwood back in September.

Alex Read gave the visitors a lead with a goal on the stroke of half time, and that was how it remained until 10 minutes from time.

Khadean Campbell levelled matters for the hosts, but the Millers went back in front five minutes from time thanks to Kane Hearn’s strike, before Jason Raad sealed all three points in the final minute.
