MARTIN Tuohy’s first pre-season strike sealed a two-goal win for the Millers’ on their travels.
Aveley had the better of the first half and had numerous chances, but only managed to score two, whereas on another day it could have been many more if Wakering keeper Louis Green was not on top form.
But the Millers’ took the lead after 18 minutes through skipper John Maskell, his thunderous free kick from 25 yards blazed its way into the back of the net.
Tuohy added a second four minutes later, getting on the end of a corner from the right, nodding in at the back post.
Green denied Aveley several times, with the best of his saves coming from Junior Dadson’s curling effort.
Wakering looked much better in the second half and had quite a few chances of their own.
They were denied fell victim of goal-line clearances and also saw another effort come back off of the bar.

ANOTHER Millers’ XI made the short trip to Basildon Utd where they also came away with a 2-0 victory, with the goals courtesy of Petrit Elbi and Daniel Francis.
