24 hours removed from their 3-3 draw with Hornchurch on Monday night, Justin Gardner's side recorded another draw away at Merstham, making it five draws from eight games in pre-season.

The game against the side from the Ryman South was used to give some of the fringe players in his squad the chance to get some valuable minutes under their belts ahead of the new season.

In the final minute Mertsham had the chance to steal the win from the penalty spot but they struck the post to insure Aveley notched up their third clean sheet of pre-season ahead of their opening league game with Wroxham on Saturday.
