A first half strike from Joao Carlos was good enough to seal a pre-season victory at Needham Market.
Millers boss Rod Stringer gave run outs to several trial players and will be pleased with their response.
Leon Diaczuk weaved his way past the Market defence and saw his shot cleared off the line.
Needham on two ocassions hit the bar in quick sucession and put the Millers' back line under pressure.
But they were made to rue their missed chances when Carlos waltzed his way through on goal with a mazy run from the half way line and shot at goal only for the Market keeper and former Millers' stopper, Darren Smith, to let the ball slip under his body and into the net.
Aveley made changes in the second half but still dominated the game and had a number of chances to extend that margin but were often denied by the Market keeper.
The one time he was beaten when Garry Skeritt poked the ball in from close range- but the linesman adjudged Skeritt to have been in an off side position.
Sean Francis game on after 72 minuutes in his long anticpated return after injury in a friendly at Romford last March.
The game petered out with the last 15 minutes for the millers to continue their good preparations for the start of the new season.
