Millers show clinical touch in Leyton

Millers show clinical touch in Leyton

Aveley Football Club

Aveley FC got their shooting boots on and managed to hit five past Essex Senior League outfit FC Romania.

The Millers fielded a strong side against a very big and physical FC Romania who left nothing on the pitch as they went hell for leather to win this friendly.

The hosts FC Romania started on top being able to pass the ball around the midfield without a real challenge going in, but their final third play was poor and couldn't really test Marrable in the early stages.

Millers took the lead after a good run and shot from Joe Pearman the goalkeeper parried it and Spencer Harrison, the goal poacher he is tapped home for his 7th goal over last season and this new one, but whose counting? FC Romania 0-1 Aveley FC.

Aveley came again as they endeavoured to double their advantage in East London and were awarded a penalty as the last man took down Petrit Elbi. He stepped up and saw his penalty saved well by the opposition keeper to keep the Millers only one ahead.

That saved proved to be a turning point as their tricky winger cutting inside and out three or four times, and curled the ball towards the bottom corner, it needed the help of the post to go in, but was a superb piece of individual play to level the scores up. FC Romania 1-1 Aveley.

The hosts then superbly took the lead. The ball fell to the centre midfielder, 30 yards out he shot a ridiculous attempt but it went sailing over James Marrable's head for an outstanding goal. FC Romania 2-1 Aveley FC.

Two minutes before the half time whistle went on a scorching afternoon, Paul Preston surged down the left hand-side and delivered a superb ball into the box, which was met superbly by Petrit Elbi and headed into the bottom corner.

Half Time- FC Romania 2-2 Aveley

The Millers came out firing in the second half as fitness levels played a big part throughout the game.

Eventually the 2-2 deadlock was broken beautifully as James Peagram burst through the FC Romania back line, although team mates shouted out "time" he lashed home and finished superbly into the far corner.
FC Romania 2-3 Aveley FC.

As the game wore on the Ryman North team showed that clinical touch and showcased the high fitness levels that boss Justin Gardner is looking for.

The fourth came as Petrit Elbi was out through on goal, against the goalkeeper, he calmly rounded the keeper, a defender did get back on the line but Elbi slotted the ball away cooly. FC Romania 2-4 Aveley FC.

Tempers from the hosts frayed as the referee halted the game to talk to the FC Romania players.

With five minutes left as play resumed the Millers rounded of another fine display as Marcus Elliott got in on the act as he clinically slotted the ball into the back of the net after Petrit Elbi played him through.
