In the clash of landlords versus tenants both sides continued their pre-season campaign with a 1-1 draw.
Millers’ boss Rod Stringer gave a run out to many of the fringe players, and was a first start of the campaign for Supporters Player and Players’ Player of last season James Marrable.
It was Romford that started the more threatening of the sides and Dean Nyman managed to glance a header just wide of the target.
And it was Boro’ who took the lead when early first half substitute Jerry Lyons left footed strike from just outside the area found its way past Marrable.
Sam Adejokun had the best chance for the Millers’ in the first half but shot straight at the Neil Finn when well placed.
A number of substitutes were brought on in the second half, and the game failed to produce much activity.
But the Millers’ did manage to level the scores through sub Tashan Adeyinka as he finished from close range.
And Aveley could have nicked a win late on when Kurt Smith struck from long range, only to see his shot come back off the crossbar.
