Aveley 1 Bishops Stortford 2

A DANNY Harris double secured a narrow victory for Bishop Stortford over Aveley.
The home side opened the lead after three minutes when Nicky Symonds left wing cross was met by Neil Richmond and the striker slotted home past keeper Nej Hussain.
But the lead was short lived as Danny Harris equalised for the visitors, his cross-cum-shot beat keeper Dave McCartney and went in off the post.
Both sides continued to enjoy good spells of possession for the duration of the first half, with Richmond again going close pouncing on a short back pass from Paul Goodacre but his effort fell just wide of the target.
McCartney was forced into action at the other end tipping Paul Goodacre’s shot wide, whilst Charlie Sheringham shot across goal narrowly evaded the goal.
The second half brought about the usual changes, with little goalmouth action, but the visitors were able to take the lead when Michael Alaile handled the ball in the area and Harris duly converted from the spot.
Stortford could have added a third late on through Rory Hill as he weaved his way past the Millers’ defence only to be denied by sub keeper Ronnie Worster’s excellent tip over.
