Millers secured three points in North-West London after coming back from 1-0 down to secure our second away win of the campaign, and third win out of four.

We started the game on top and could’ve taken the lead inside two minutes. A corner from Brendon Shabani found Ryan Scott at the back post who fired just wide of the right hand post.

After that early chance the hosts’ came back into the game and forward Kearney who fired just over the goal from 20 yards out. The hosts were a decent passing team and managed to carve open a chance for left back Hernandez who got in behind and applied a left-footed finish into David Hughes’ left hand corner of the goal. We almost found a leveller straight away as Benas Vaivada found Oscar Shelvey on the edge of the area, he tried to pick his spot in the top left hand corner, but he was denied by a strong led handed save.

The hosts almost doubled their lead as they continued to pass there way to the edge of the Aveley penalty area, Hinds had two efforts in quick succession, one saved by David Hughes and the other effort was blazed over the crossbar.

As half time loomed we had one final set-piece, the ball came to Harry Gibbs who controlled the ball well and crossed into Kenny Aileru at the back post who tapped it in. Wingate & Finchley 1-1 Aveley.

The second half saw an improved and controlled Aveley performance, which started in the perfect way. Benas Vaivada received the ball in the Wingate & Finchley box, he twist and turned and fired a shot into the bottom right hand corner to give us the lead. Wingate & Finchley 1-2 Aveley.

It could’ve been more for Aveley, Ryan Scott saw his looped header come back off the crossbar after he connected with a Benas Vaivada corner and bounce away to safety.

We were next to be denied twice in quick succession with both efforts cleared off the line. First it was Harry Gibbs who looked to have scored before it was blocked on the line, it came out to George Sykes who hooked it back goalwards but again it was cleared off the line.

The hosts almost snatched a point after a clearance landed to Clarke, but from six yards out, he couldn’t convert and spooned it over the bar.

With time ticking away we almost sealed it as Bryan Ifeanyi picked the ball up and carried it 30 yards before seeing his effort smack the inside of the post and roll away to safety. But The Millers stood strong and sealed the three points.
