Oscar Shelvey and Harry Gibbs scored to round off August with four wins from five games.

The Millers rounded off awesome August with a victory over Corinthian-Casuals after a first half goal from Oscar Shelvey put us deservedly ahead, in the second half Harry Gibbs doubled our lead, the visitors came hard in the last 15 minutes and pulled one back and almost snatched a point but were just denied by the crossbar in the final minutes.

We started the game brightly with Ryan Scott almost connecting with an Alex Akrofi corner to give us the lead, on this occasion it grazed Scotty's head and wide of the Corinthian-Casuals left hand post.

Harry Gibbs was next to try his luck inside 15 minutes, a ball clipped forward found Gibbo who fired towards the near post with his left foot, but the visiting goalkeeper Allan was there to save.

We were dictating play and it seemed all but a matter of time until we took a deserved lead. Oscar Shelvey sprayed the ball wide to Bryan Ifeanyi he cut inside on his left foot and curled an effort just over the crossbar.

On the 25th minute we found the back of the net. Great link up play between Alex Akrofi and Kenny Aileru set up Oscar Shelvey who managed to find the right connection to steer the ball into the goal. Aveley 1-0 Corinthian-Casuals.

For the rest of the first half we were the team looking and making moves for another goal. Alex Akrofi saw two corners glance off the head of each centre half, first Harry Gibbs and then Ryan Scott, but the visitors managed to clear it away.

We deserved another goal after a lovely nut-meg delivered by Alex Akrofi on former-Miller Charlie Edwards set up Kenny Aileru who had his shot on goal just about held and kept out by Allan.

Half Time | Aveley 1-0 Corinthian-Casuals.

Every game at this level is a battle, and if you're not on it for 90 minutes side can punish you. The opening fifteen minutes of the second half had the feel to it of back against the wall defending needed to get the full three points.

The visitors controlled possession but didn't create many clear cut chances until the 61st minute. Central midfielder Sanogo connected with a corner but couldn't get enough to steer it home.

Despite putting the pressure on, we doubled our lead with an emphatic header. Benas Vaivada's corner was met by the head of Harry Gibbs who powered his header into the roof of the net from 8 yards out to give us some breathing room. Aveley 2-0 Corinthian-Casuals.

The last ten minutes saw the visitors have a couple of glorious chances that they failed to make the most of. Nathaniel Pinney had a cross just needing a touch but thankfully no one was arriving in the box to apply it. Babajide had a glorious chance as he rounded David Hughes, and with an empty goal at his mercy, he hit the outside of the post. Five minutes later Babajide had another chance, and this time made it count, he latched onto a ball over the top and slid the ball past Hughes. Aveley 2-1 Corinthian-Casuals.

With four minutes added on time, the visitors came close to an equaliser twice. Nathaniel Pinney connected with a half volley from 20 yards out, his effort smacked the underside of the crossbar and the ball bounced to safety. The last chance of the game came to Sanogo again who connected with a corner, this time the ball bounced down and was an inch over the crossbar for an Aveley goal kick.
