TWO GOALS in the opening four minutes put the Millers on course for a comfortable victory against play-off hopefuls Hastings.
Junior Dadson and Martin Tuohy got the home side off to the best possible start before Tuohy’s doubled his tally with 5 minutes left of the first half.
The Millers could have extended their margin after the break but some wasteful shooting put paid to their chances.
Hastings never really got going after the two early goals and although Ade Olorunda and Rhys Whybourne in each half it was the closest they were to come to get anything out of the long trip to Mill Field.
Dadson broke the deadlock with only three minutes on the clock after the ball broke free to the winger and he side footed low past keeper Steve Williams
Williams hardly had time to catch his breath a minute later when Tuohy spotted him off his line and the effort nestled into the back of the net.
Williams continued to have a bad game and when he missed a regulation cross from Steve Butterworth he spilt it straight to Tuohy who made no mistake.
He almost gifted Sherwin Stanley a goal two minutes later when his clearance fell straight to the striker but his shot from distance was just off target.
The Millers could have added to the U’s woes in the second half when Matt Johnson’s ball down the right wing was chased by Sherwin Stanley and a ball in was laid back to Steve Butterworth but he blazed over when well placed.
Stanley had a golden opportunity to make it four when he raced clear of the Hastings defence but instead of passing to an unmarked Dadson he went it alone and shot wide.
