Aveley started well and for the first half the match seemed to look comfortable against a Maldon & Tiptree, a side who hadn't won since the 22nd of September.

Within minutes of kick off, Aveley forced a corner, whipped in from Jamie Dicks and was flicked just wide of the goal by Spencer Harrison.

Darren McQueen was the hosts stand out player in the first half, his pace was explosive as he blasted past Tyler Myers to deliver a cross into the back post but this time it was headed away really well by Jamie Dicks.

Millers created again, a lovely dinked pass from Arian Retkoceri played in Liam Nash but his volley went wide of the target.

Only a matter of moments later Millers were denied again, Phillips with a great fingertip save to deny Petrit Elbi.

The Jammers really should've taken the lead on 28 minutes. Again McQueen caused problems down our right hand side, he crossed into the middle and unbelievably Darren Mills fired straight at James Marrable.

James Peagram was next to try his luck, a free kick on the edge of the area went just over the crossbar with Phillips scrambling across to cover the goal.

With our next attack the Millers led. Lovely football from the visitors carved open Maldon & Tiptree. A great pass from Petrit Elbi found Liam Nash down the left hand side, he crossed into Billy Holland who finished with his first touch. Jammers 0-1 Aveley FC.

For the rest of the half it was all Aveley, as we peppered the hosts goal. Peagram curled a left footed shot just wide of the goal, seconds later Liam Nash just didn't catch his volley as it rolled to Phillips to keep the score at 1-0.

Now since Maldon Town and Tiptree United joined to become Maldon & Tiptree, Aveley have never beaten them, and with a 1-0 lead at half time, it was only 45 minutes to change that. But the Jammers completely controlled the second 45.

With the first chance of the half the hosts equalised. Our defence went awol as the Jammers walked through, it was squared to Femi Akinwande who tapped home. Jammers 1-1 Millers.

Darren McQueen was next to waltz through the defence, he got one on one with the keeper, and was told to "go down" by the Maldon & Tiptree contingent, but he stayed on his feet and was denied by a fine stop from James Marrable.

Left back Ben Wyatt tormented our right hand side and saw his shot flash just wide of the post.

This was another warning for the Millers, but only a moment later the Jammers took the lead. Darren Mills seemed to be able to just run through towards the goal, he pulled it across to Femi who was denied brilliantly by James Marrable, but with no one back, it landed to Femi who tapped into an empty net. Jammers 2-1 Millers.

The Jammers again remained in total control of the game, with Femi and Mills denied by James Marrable to keep us in it.

With five minutes left, we almost snatched a point, which would've been a sucker punch for the hosts. The ball was played to Liam Nash, on the edge of the area, he curled a left footed shot which hit the base of the post.
