Official frustration at Mill Field

Official frustration at Mill Field

Jamie Manktelow

Aveley and Haringey played out an action packed end of season game.

Aveley dominated the match, but Haringey had their chances to win it with a late chance at the end.

This game had everything; goals, shots hitting the bar, Gaffer being sent to the stands, offside goal not ruled out, a goal when the ball over the line went over not given, and linesmen "interacting" too much with Millers Boss.

It didn't start very well for Aveley, in 30 seconds the Millers were 1-0 down, Asomoah was about 3/4 yards offside, not seen by the linesmen. He crossed into the back post and Wilson smashed past Bobby Mason. [0-1].

Aveley then started to dominant the rest of the match. Andres Tobon shot trickled just wide of the right hand post after a good block by Aaron Scott. From that corner Perry Dunn's thunderous header cracked the crossbar and was scrambled clear.

Reece Conway was next to try his luck but saw his shot go just a tad over. After good work between Liam Nash and Abs Seymour, the latter crossed into the back post to David Fallah, but unfortunately this time couldn't find the back of the net.

The match unfortunately took a turn for the worse for the Millers. I'm not going to get into it, but the linesmen said something to Justin, and when Gardner asked the referee to come over to have a word with his linesmen, instead the referee sent Justin off, unjustly.

Great chances followed for the Millers, with Liam Nash, Brian Okwera both heading wide of the goal. David Fallah was then denied well by the keeper from close range.

Half Time- Aveley 0-1 Haringey

Millers started the half brightly and got their more than deserved goal after five minutes. To me the ball looked out, (but after the decisions in the first half who cares!?) Abs Seymour pulled the ball back to Andres Tobon who finished well into the back of the net. [1-1].

After the goal, the Haringey players seemed to absolutely lose it and sprinted towards the officials, with some choice words, no bookings however.

Asamoah tried his luck from 30 yards out, and his effort cracked the bar which left Bobby Mason stranded.

The Millers continued to dominate the match but just couldn't put their chances away and claim all three points.

Ruddock Yala went into the book for an "over zealous" tackle, however there was probably five tackles worst then that in the match that went unpunished.

Haringey's second chance of the half was a free-kick, fired under the wall, all it needed was a touch for a smash and grab but luckily it flashed last the post.

Substitute Louis Rene had a chance to win it for the Millers, but he fired over first time from a cross from Michael Pindy.

The last controversy of the game came as Perry Dunn scored from a corner. Well the ball was over the line after he nodded in from an Abs Seymour corner, but the goal wasn't given.

A frustrating evening for many reasons for the Millers, a game we should've won, but if decisions were correct it would be a match report about a good win at home. Instead a real competitive 1-1 draw against Haringey Borough.
