The visitors could’ve been in front inside a minute. Dan Ajakaiye went through on goal but lifted his effort over Jonathan North and over the crossbar. However, Lateef Adaja quickly slotted home from the edge of the area, giving Wanderers the lead.

Wanderers should’ve been further ahead by the half-time interval. Ola Ogunwamide caused problems down the right wing, cutting inside and curling an effort wide of the Aveley right-hand post. Later in the half, he attempted a similar effort, and this time his shot clipped the top of the crossbar.

Cray would go on to hit the crossbar again, this time Ajakaiye the unlucky party as his effort was denied by the woodwork.

Into the second half, the visitors doubled their lead after a strong start. A corner found its way to Remi Sutton, who fired home unmarked from close range.

Brett Munyard rang the changes, and it made an instant impact, with Aveley getting more of a foothold in the match.

However, the game was almost put out of sight when the referee collided with Liam Nash, who was attempting to start an Aveley attack from deep in their own half. The referee stood his ground in front of the onrushing Nash, with the ball falling to Ola Ogunwamide, whose effort was thankfully saved well by Jonathan North.

Despite the best efforts to rule the goal out, the Millers did halve the deficit with ten minutes to go. Liam Nash fired home from close range after a flick-on by Toby Aromolaran, giving Aveley hope.

The visitors were then fortunate to keep eleven players on the pitch after Frankie Raymond appeared to receive his second yellow card of the game without being shown a red. But that didn’t stop Aveley from pulling level. Tobi Tinubu found Liam Nash at the back post, who volleyed home as the game ticked into stoppage time.

It looked like there would only be one winner, and that would be the home side. Toby Aromolaran had an effort cleared off the line, and 30 seconds later the visitors clinched all three points. A perfectly executed counter-attack saw Ola Ogunwamide find Max Fiddes, who tapped home from close range.

This victory inflicted Aveley’s first home league defeat since September.
