A turnaround at Parkside saw Whitehawk lead two nil before Aveley staged a dramatic comeback, winning the game three two.
The hosts were on top, and chances for Chris Harris came and went. The first was a header wide of the goal, and the second saw Harris go round a few Hawks defenders before firing an effort wide of the post.
Ryan Henshaw had a header which looped up in the air, Robinson found Toby Aromolaran, who had his shot blocked from close range. Whitehawk withstood all the chances and scored with their first shot. Kamarni Ryan got past Matty Johnson before chopping and drilling into the bottom corner.
Six minutes later, and the visitors doubled their lead through experienced striker Rhys Murphy. Aveley’s Matty Johnson saw his pass go to Rhys Murphy’s feet, who was in one-on-one with Turner. Murphy’s initial shot was saved, but he tapped in the follow-up.
Just before the break, Aveley got a route back into the game. Toby Aromolaran was taken down by the Whitehawk keeper, Ollie Peters stepped up for his first of the season.
Into the second half, and within three minutes, the game was back level. A powerful Ollie Peters pass found Aromolaran, who smashed it across the goal, where Malachi Napa tapped home.
The hosts were on top and were hunting a winner, and found it with eight minutes to go. Napa had an attempted overhead kick, which landed to Jayden Robinson, who curled an effort first time into the top corner.
