A game very much of two halves as the Millers were dead and buried in the first half, and we managed to dig deep to pull out a good and dominating performance in the second 45 to gain a point at Ship Lane.

The first half just didn't feel right, for a local derby match, we just didn't seem at the races and fair play to Thurrock as they took full control of the match and were the only team who looked liked scoring.

Fleet had their first chance of the match early on as both Ross Wall and Remi Sutton had shots that were both blocked and then from the left wing Remi Sutton crossed into the box and it clipped the top of the crossbar.

The Millers did have a couple of half chances out of nowehere, Emmanuel Ighorae wriggled on the edge of the area and his right footed effort just went wide of the left hand side.

Although Thurrock had most of the ball, the Millers did have another couple of half chances, George Woodward's driving run found Taylor Tombides but his shot was straight at Behcet who had to deal with the swirling effort.

But on 20 minutes, Thurrock went in front. Fleet's set-pieces were at a high standard, and another great delivery had the Millers all at sea at Ship Lane, it eventually dropped o Ross Wall who pounced and buried a right footed effort into the back of the net. Thurrock 1-0 Aveley.

In truth the Millers didn't really get started and were a shadow of the team they had been for the rest of the season. A really difficult chance came for us, an Arian Retkoceri corner was only glanced wide of the target by Harry Gibbs.

But the second goal was coming and it was one of the worst times to concede it, five minutes just before half time. It was ex-Miller Ross Wall again who got it, this time the ball was given to Wall and he stayed cool, calm and collected to slot the ball into the goal with ease. Thurrock 2-0 Aveley.

The second half kind of started how the first ended and it took the Millers eight minutes to get back into the match really out of nowhere. Abs Seymour was tackled down the right wing, it landed to Emmanuel Ighorae who was free about 20 yards out and fired towards goal, Thurrock's keeper didn't move as the ball flew past him into the back of the net. Thurrock 2-1 Aveley.

During this match, the Millers somehow got five bookings, and even for a local derby match there wasn't a really bad tackle, but both sides managed to get a lot of bookings. For Aveley it was; Arian Retkcoeri, Abs Seymour, George Woodward, Olumide Olliwatimilehin and Harry Gibbs who saw yellow cards.

In the second half it was only really one team in it as Aveley dominated the ball and proceedings, Emmanuel Ighorae wriggled away again and this time fired a whisker wide of the right hand post.

But the Millers kept going and we got our just rewards, a ball in from Abs Seymour found Daniel McCullock at the back post and he shifted the ball onto his right footed and lashed the ball in off the post. Thurrock 2-2 Aveley.

The Millers really could've won this game but Behcet pulled off a brilliant save to deny Abs Seymour after flowing move from the visitors. A lovely back-heel from Sherwin Stanley played in Abs Seymour and his pile driver was somehow kept out.

Thurrock themselves did have a massive chance but Winn blazed it over the bar after finding himself through on goal..

The Millers did have a couple of half chances near the end of the match with Michael Pindy's dangerous runs into the box, but the ball just wouldn't fall for Arian Retkoceri or Sherwin Stanley as both sides then settled for the point.
