The Millers recorded the first win since the arrival of our new First Team Manager, Terry Spillane and his backroom staff. After a couple of defeats anda draw at home to then top of the table Phoenix Sports, the Millers travelled to Rob Small's Bowers & Pitsea who before past three games have been fighting in the play off places, but a couple of negative results later and they have fallen down to 10th in the Ryman North.
The Millers have been busy the past week with eight signings coming in and five players leaving the club, along with many injuries too Spillane and co acted swiftly to bring in more decent players who featured against Phoenix Sports and this game at Bowers.
The hosts came flying out the traps and created, and squandered, some very good chances. Pethers cross into the box came to Callum Leahy headed the ball against the post. Followed by an effort from Harry Agombar which went past the post.
The Millers then took the lead and scored the first goal for the third straight game running, and it was young Jordan Peart who got on the end of a cross and headed in well past Lewis Greene in the Bowers & Pitsea goal. Bowers & Pitsea 0-1 Aveley.
The lively Scott Pethers had a chance a few minutes before half time, he managed to chest down well and ran with it towards our goal, but his effort didn't trouble Lamar Joseph-Johnson.
But it remained 1-0 to the Millers, with a big 45 minutes coming up to secure the three points at the Len Salmon Stadium.
Half Time | Bowers & Pitsea 0-1 Aveley ( - Jordan Peart 31)
The Millers started the second half really well and had a great chance to double the lead but Bowers' recent signing Lewis Greene in goal pulled off a brilliant save to deny the Aveley second.
Substitute Alfie Hilton was causing problems after his introduction, and he fed Pethers who had advanced into an attacking position. But his strike was blazed over the bar.
Brad Warner was starved of service for much of the afternoon although he almost combined with fellow former Fleet man Lewis Clark late on, but the free-kick was saved by Lamar Johnson.
A well hard fought victory at a really tough Bowers & Pitsea side who had been surprising everyone so far this season and a first win in four leaves the Millers in 6th in the Ryman North and one point off Brightlingsea Regent in the play off places.
