Millers unlucky to lose
By Aveley Football Club
A scrappy goal seven minutes from time ends Millers unbeaten run.
In what wasn't the best of spectacles both these top six sides cancelled each other out all game, and the end result really wasn't one the Millers deserved at all.
The team defended well and we also created a couple of big openings which could've seen us snatch all three points.
The game also saw the Millers show off new signings in Nick Skelton and Jeremiah Maja who both had really impressive debuts for the Essex boys.
The Millers started the better of the two sides, Gaz Dauti almost found Jordan Peart with a lovely through ball but the pass was just over hit.
Gaz Dauti was in the thick of the action a moment later, his flicked header found Jeremiah Maja who from a tight angle just squeezed his shot over the bar.
Billy Coyne then whipped a cross into the box, Bury's keeper punched it away, only as far as Gaz Dauti who attempted an audacious overhead kick which landed just wide of the right hand post.
The Millers came again looking for the lead, Jeremiah Maja was free down the right and fired his fizzed effort against the backboard just over the bar.
We really should've been in front but a wonderful one handed save kept out Jordan Peart from close range from the hosts keeper on the 25th minute mark. From that corner Gaz Dauti saw his header float just the wrong side of the left hand post.
The hosts did have their own chances, the wide midfielder Allen was at the back post as he tried to get on the end of a whipped left footed cross but he just couldn't get on the end of it which would've given Bury Town the lead.
Five minutes before the half time whistle it looked to be a debut to remember for Nick Skelton. A great ball in from Jeremiah Maja found Gaz Dauti at the back post who pulled it back to Nick Skelton who buried into the bottom left hand corner of the goal, but Gaz was flagged for offside before Nick found the net and it remained goalless.

Bury Town had the best of the second half, but early on they were restricted to long ranged efforts. Both Read and Allen fired harmlessly over the crossbar.
The Blues did have a great chance again at the back post, a long throw from De'Ath caught everyone out and only needed a touch, but no one could as it just went past the post for a goal kick.
Josh Mayhew looked destined to score after he latched on from an Allen cross but he didn't count on Tommy Spillane as he flung his head to the ball to keep the hosts out, and the scores level.
Allen almost opened opened the scoring again as he got in down the right. But a mixture of Lamar Johnson and Joe Clarke kept him out. And a minute after that Allen was taken off, even though he looked dangerous all game long.
Bury Town then had back to back chances with fifteen minutes remaining. Luke Read fired over from ten yards a minute after being yellow carded for a foul on Gaz Dauti. And about 30 seconds after Read's miss, Tom Debenham then missed from a free close range header after Remi Garrett found him six yards out.
Ten minutes from time the Millers almost won it. Great play from Jack Edwards who found Jordan Peart in the area in front of goal, but he was denied by the Bury Town keeper as he tried to take it around him before shooting.
The sucker punch came six minutes from time. A corner rebounded off of three players and somehow found a way into the back post. The hosts awarded the goal to Sam Reed, but it really could've been given to anyone as it somehow crept in at the back post. Bury 1-0 Aveley.
It seemed that we had the ball go in the back of the net again in this match as the time went into the 90th minute. Bury Town centre half headed the ball over his goalkeeper with no Aveley player near him, the ball seemed to have gone over the line, but that didn't matter as the linesmen flagged for offside.
The last action of this game saw Millers man Adalberto Pinto pick up his second yellow card of the match after a mistimed tackle, and due to that he misses the game away at Tilbury on Saturday 12th November.
