This game really should've been won by the 45 minute mark. But our search of a win away at Heybridge continues which stretches back to 1993. But that run should've been ended this afternoon.

We started the game very much on top and in control for much of the first half. Jordan Peart galloped down the left hand side and saw his effort saved well by Danny Sambridge at his near post to deny the Millers an early lead.

Jack Edwards just fired his chance wide of the left hand post from the edge of the area and minutes later Jordan Peart was denied again after a couple of ricochet's helped land the ball at Peart's feed but the legs of Sambridge kept us out.

We didn't have to wait long for the deadlock to be Brocken. A ball up top found Dan Odamo who stayed up the pitch from a set piece he nodded down to Adalberto Pinto who finished confidently to put us ahead. Heybridge 0-1 Aveley.

Swifts didn't really do much during the first half. The hosts had a couple of crosses that didn't find anyone in the box and with their first shot on 20 minutes it went out for a throw in.

The Millers continued to press Heybridge. A dangerous corner found Mason Bloomfield but his flicked header went wide of the left hand post. From another corner Adalberto Pinto saw his effort cleared of the line as Swifts keeper Sambridge misjudged the flight of the ball.

Adalberto Pinto had another chance from closer range after Billy Coyne found him with superb delivery, but Pinto just fired over the bar under pressure.

We then had back to back yellow cards given to Michael Toner for a ball that was there for the winning, and Adalberto Pinto for an overcommitted tackle. That was only the start of the yellow cards, where we ended up with five bookings, and our hosts two in what wasn't a dirty game at all.

The turning point in the game came five minutes before half time. Jordan Peart through on goal and had his legs taken away from him, instead of the penalty being awarded, Peart was given a yellow card for diving in what was a stonewall penalty.

Heybridge started to get back into the game, ex-Dagenham & Redbridge and ex-Aveley player Ade Yussuf found some space and almost found the back of the net but for a brilliant block from Tommy Spillane.

The second half wasn't really as good in terms of chances created. The Millers had a few chances but none really guilt edged.

We defended resolutely for most of the second half and had a few chances.

Michael Toner was set up well by Joe Clark but his effort spiralled out for a Heybridge goal kick.

The hosts came within inches of getting back on level terms. A thunderous free-kick from Nicholas Brown went through four bodies hit the inside of the post and somehow went out for a goal kick beyond the other post.

We then had back to back chances within three minutes and should've killed the game off. Mason Bloomfield tried his luck from a difficult angle and tested Danny Sambridge. The next Michael Toner headed over the bar after a super cross from Jack Edwards found him.

We'd love to regret all missed chances in 85 minutes as Heybridge pulled themselves back level. A long throw-in came into our box and found its way into the back of our net in off the left hand post which had previously denied them. The goal was awarded to Philip Anderson. Heybridge 1-1 Aveley.

There was one bit of drama left in the match, Swifts striker Ade Yusuff was taken down by Lamar Johnson as he ran through on goal and the referee awarded the penalty. Ade Yusuff stepped and passed the ball about ten foot wide of Lamar's right hand post to keep the scores level.

In the end on the last five minutes it's a point gained for the Millers, but for 85 minutes of it, it will go down as 2 points dropped.
