Aveley Football Club

In tough conditions and against a very good side the Millers battled hard to earn a point at Ram Meadow.

The rain poured down for lengthy periods before the game which made the game a more scrappy affair but the Millers did their best to play some good football, in which we did.

We looked dangerous going forward after Michael Osei played in Jordan Peart down the left hand side, he crossed into Jordan Watson who tapped into the goal but the linesmen had his flag up for offside. It did look very close but the Millers striker didn't have the luck or benefit of the doubt on this occasion and it remained 0-0.

After scoring six goals in their last home outing against Tilbury, who we lost to four days prior at Parkside 2-0, keeping a clean sheet all in all would be a fantastic accolade, and we did.

The Millers were forced into a change just before the half hour mark after Paul Preston picked up an injury after blocking a goal-bound effort from Bury captain Bradley Barber, Paul was replaced by Mark Twumasi.

Billy Coyne was next to try his luck from a long way out, and saw his free-kick go wide of the right hand post. Jeremiah Maja then came close after Jordan Watson played him in, but Maja saw his shot from a narrow angle hit the roof of the side netting.

The hosts goalkeeper kept the scores level, after Nathan Koranteng had his fierce drive saved at the second attempt by Tibbles in the Bury Town goal.

As we neared half time the hosts ramped up the pressure. Aitkins had a pop from twenty yards which was comfortably saved by Rhys Madden. Madden then made two great saves, at first to deny Cemal Ramadan and then Bradley Barber in quick succession to keep the scores level at the break.

Half Time | Bury Town 0-0 Aveley.

The first half was a very even affair, and the second half was almost along the same lines, but with Bury creating more opportunities.

Bradley Barber had a glorious chance as he got through one-on-one with Rhys Madden but somehow put it a foot wide of the left hand post.

Although Bury had much of the possession the Millers had a brilliant chance as Jordan Peart pulled it back to Nathan Koranteng who scooped the ball over from close range.

Shortly after that chance the hosts had another, but Rhys Madden was equal to it, Barber crossed for Mills who heads goal-wards only for Rhys to save it with one hand.

Billy Coyne was the next player to thank as he hooked away a Mills header off the line after the Bury Town striker connected with a corner kick.

The game started to slowly die out as both teams had given everything for the 85 minutes prior. Rhys Madden was booked, along with Ross Gleed for unknown reasons and George Woodward for taking too long on the throw-in.

Bury's left back Joe White tried to win all three points as he fired towards goal from the edge of the area but it was well saved by Rhys Madden who got his body behind it.

The game could've finished even better for the Millers after Jordan Peart won the Millers a free-kick with the last kick of the game, but unfortunately Tibbles come out and claimed the ball well to deny the Millers a chance at nicking all three points at Ram Meadow.
