It was a great night for the Millers with goals from Alex Teniola and debutant on loan from Southend United Sewa Marah which helped to bag all three points against local rivals Tilbury at Chadfields.
The Millers were first to go close after Robbie Rees shot from 20 yards it came to Freddie Garde who then hit the crossbar and Teniola was flagged offside from the rebound.
The hosts best chance of the game came after a couple of close ranged free-kicks all went over the bar, those free-kicks resulted in yellow cards for Robbie Rees and goalkeeper Rhys Madden. But the Dockers best chance came on the 22nd minute when Jack Carlile sent a corner in and Adam Vyse saw his effort cleared off the line.
The Dockers did squander another chance as Vyse missed from six yards out as he put it over the bar, but that was all the hosts could throw at the Millers who really grew into the game.
And on the 27th minute we took the lead through a bit of Teniola Time. Wonderful wing play from Robbie Rees crossed into Alex Teniola who made no mistake in notching up his third goal in four games for the Millers to put us ahead at Chadfields. Tilbury 0-1 Aveley.
Nearing the end of the first half the Millers could’ve put a buffer between themselves and the hosts but Connor Hogan hit the post and the rebound was stabbed just wide of the post.
Half Time | Tilbury 0-1 Aveley.
After the break we needed to add to the lead, just like Romford showed we need to add that buffer so we can then control the game rather than leave the hosts with a lifeline, and a couple of minutes into the second half we did just that.
A corner from the right from Freddie Gard was headed home comfortably by Sewa Marah on his debut. Sewa powerfully headed home the corner which was as said above provided by Freddie Gard who was a former Blues youngster, he provided for the loanee to score his first goal for the Millers. Tilbury 0-2 Aveley.
Aveley took control of the game, limiting Tilbury to efforts from outside the box. Which was the perfect away performance away at local rivals Tilbury.
Lewis Jaggs had the only serious effort on goal for the Dockers going into the last ten minutes of the game which could've led to a frantic finale. But Jaggs was denied by some good keeping from Rhys Madden.
The only negative of the game came in the final minute of the game as the Millers were reduced to ten men after Callum Leahy was shown a straight red card by the referee. But that was too late in the game to have any effect on the outcome as we came away with three points, a clean sheet, and James Webster's first league win in charge.
