There was an amazing Ryman One North clash at Enfield on Saturday when three players claimed hat-tricks in a real goals feast.

Mitch Hahn got one for the home side but they were upstaged by Millers, for whom Petrit Elbi and Joao Carlos grabbed three apiece. The other goal for Aveley, on the day it was announced that Rod Stringer was Division One North manager of the month, came from Sean Francis.

A match played out in strong winds and torrential rain was action-packed from the off. Town had the first chance, after just three minutes when Gazmend Dauti’s inswinging shot clipped the crossbar.

It took the hosts just four minutes more to take the lead when Aveley keeper James Marrable and John Maskell got in a mix-up, leaving the ball to each other and allowing Mitch Hahn the opportunity to put the ball into an empty net from the edge of the box.

Millers were level when Junior Dadson’s cross was met by Carlos and though keeper David Walton parried his first effort, he followed up to volley into the net. Millers soon took the lead, when Elbi got his first finishing off a fine passing move.

Things calmed down until midway through the half when Carlos was pulled down by Paul Campbell and he got up to convert the subsequent penalty.

Former East Thurrock striker Ellis Remy squandered a couple of chances for Enfield before the home side got a goal back in controversial circumstances. The referee awarded a free kick against Sam Holloway and called the defender to him to caution. While talking to the Millers defender, who had been pulled out of his defensive position for the lecture,the Ref mysteriously allowed Enfield to take a quick free kick playing it into the space vacated by the Aveley player. Hahn susequently ran thorugh and scored with ease.

Aveley’s two goal lead was restored on 42 minutes when Carlos’s free kick caused confusion in the home defence and Sean Francis pounced from close range.

The gap was closed up again deep into stoppage time when Hahn thumped in a 20 yard shot to complete his hat-trick.

it didn't take Enfield long to square the game up in the second period. Hahn crossed and one-time Miller Jermaine Hughes converted.

With both coaches tearing their hair out over defensive lapses it was Millers who were to strike next as Carlos completed his hat-trick. There was more controversy over the game’s tenth goal when Millers’ Garry Skerritt fouled Michael Dean. With Enfield in possession the ref waved play on but a Francis tackle and clearance found Elbi who strolled througha pedestrian Enfiedl defence to score.

Elbi was the third player to complete his hat-trick on 80 minutes with an 18 yard strike and even in the games closing minutes chances came and went in both goalmouths but a remarkable match was to end with just the 11 goals.
