Millers extended the club record of consecutive away league wins with a painful narrow victory at basement boys Hillingdon Borough this afternoon.
Millers opened well, carving out two good opportunities in the first 5 minutes, unfortunately both efforts from Petrit Elbi were put wide, the second when he had time to control instead of striking first time.
We failed to build on the encouraging opening, and slowly Hillingdon gained belief, and came more into the match, but without ever really testing their visitors.
A stern talk was needed at the interval, and a little more urgency was called for.
The breakthrough eventually came in the 56th minute when Neil Richmond was felled in the 6 yard box, and Petrit Elbi atoned for his earlier misses by coolly keeping his head with the spot kick. Two minutes later Richmond was again taken out in the box by the home custodian, however having given one spot kick, the referee declined to give us a second more blatant foul.
The game never got going, and petered out without any real clear chances, but the important thing at this stage of the season is the 3 points, especially as news filtered through of East Thurrock's thumping of Witham Town.
