A JUNIOR Dadson first half brace proved enough for the Millers’ to ruin any play-off ambition for the Motormen.
The home side bounced back well from their defeat to Brentwood last week and kept their tails on East Thurrock who enjoyed a 5-0 victory over Cheshunt.
In an uneventful first half, The Millers’ took the lead with the first real attack of the half.
Under pressure Matthew Johnson produced a pin point ball through the visitors’ defence and the pacy Dadson was through one-on-one with Charlie Hasler before shooting low past the keeper and into the corner of the net.
Redbridge’s only effort of the half came when the ball fell to Mark Nougher and from a distance his shot was comfortably saved by James Marrable in the Millers’.
The early goal failed to inspire either side, with the ball being bogged down in the middle of the park but before the half was out the Millers’ were able to open up a two-goal cushion.
And it was that man Dadson who was on hand to double the lead, finishing off a neat move with Garry Skerritt, shooting high into the net.
The second half continued in the same vein as the first, with little action.
Neil Richmond was taken off for the host, with what looked like an ankle injury with Bryan Hammatt.
Hammatt was instrumental in all Aveley’s good work in the second half and the forward will be looking to play more of a role in these latter stages.
Hammatt was able to thread through Johnson before the midfielder saw his effort deflected behind for a corner.
Redbridge continued to battle away but were reduced to chances from distance, with 19-goal front man Hakeem Araba firing two shots wide when well placed.
Mitch Hahn, back after missing the Brentwood match, went close late on with 25-yard free kick which narrowly went over the bar.
