Two goals in the last five minutes set up a frantic finale where the Millers almost snatched all three points against Great Wakering.
After the 3-0 defeat away to Tilbury the Millers come up against a Great Wakering side who have equipped themselves well with Brian Moses and Eljay Worrell joining from Basildon, along with former-Miller Sewa Marah on loan from Southend United and Shomari Barnwell up top too, it was a big front line that the Millers couldn't deal with in patches.
We started the game off really well, we had a couple of half chances as Andy Freeman's dangerous cross was cleared well by Brian Moses, and almost took the lead as Tony Martin played in Alex Akrofi but he was adjudged to be offside.
Tom Richardson made a good run but fired over the crossbar from outside the area as he was just off-balance when he took the shot. On the 13th minute we hit the post, Alex Akrofi had the initial effort which was saved, Tony Martin followed up but was denied by the base of the post. Minutes later Alex Akrofi had a chance, but on this occasion, he dragged his shot wide of the goal.
After those chances the visitors started to grow into the game and the presence of their front three was causing problems and winning set-pieces which they are always going to be dangerous from and that's how the visitors scored their first. A corner came in and it was met by the head of Ollie Woodhouse who beat David Hughes to the ball to open the scoring. Aveley 0-1 Great Wakering Rovers.
We almost pulled back instantly as a cross from Shad Ngandu went pass everyone and the keeper but a recovering defender managed to hook it off the line to keep the visitors ahead.
That goal clearance was crucial as a minute later the visitors doubled their lead. The ball was lost after a loose pass and the ball found it's way to Brian Moses who parted the Millers defence and slammed home a finish into the roof of the net from the edge of the area to put Wakering up by two. Aveley 0-2 Great Wakering Rovers.
Great Wakering could've had the game wrapped up by halftime with the chances that they had to grab a third. Shomari Barnwell rose at the back post but he couldn't head home from a tight angle. Sewa Marah then created a quality chance for Brian Moses, but he thankfully headed over the crossbar from six yards out.

We started off the second half with a glorious chance for Andy Freeman, the ball dropped to both Alex Akrofi and Andy Freeman at the back post unmarked and looked like both were going to score but a wonderful save from the keeper kept Andy Freeman out.
On the hour mark, the Millers had a double change with George Doyle and Marcus Milner coming on to try and change the course of the game. We continued to apply pressure but it was to no avail. James Love tried his luck from the edge of the area but just couldn't get the desired connection to trouble the keeper.
The visitors looked like scoring throughout the second half but just couldn't totally kill the game off, Brian Moses headed just wide and George Cox hit a fantastic shot just wide of David Hughes' left-hand top corner.
The game appeared to be ending and our unbeaten streak at Parkside was ending but out of nowhere the Millers got back into the game and a lifeline came on the 85th minute.
