In the tenth minute Aveley were awarded a free-kick about 25 yards out but Rashid Kamara’s shot was straight at Blue’s keeper Elliott Justham.
Alex Read had a chance to give Brentwood the lead when Ronnie Worster failed to collect a ball to the far post at the first attempt. The Miller’s keeper recovered to avert the danger.
Aveley opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Junior Dadson rifled in a shot from 18 yards just inside the right-hand post giving Justham no chance. Five minutes later the lead was doubled when Junior Appiah sent in a low cross from the right and Ex-Miller Ryan Doyle put through his own goal.
Kamara then got in a shot from 25 yards which hit the Brentwood bar. Jordan Cox had a couple of half chances, the second of which was smothered by the Blue’s keeper.
Millers added a third after 34 minutes when Kamara scored from close range after good work by Cox and debutant Danny Hopkins. Jay Leader got his head to a corner in the 37th minute but the ball flew over the bar.
Brentwood had a chance shortly after when Sherwin Stanley and Alex Read beat the offside trap but Worster came to the rescue.
Luke Wilson had a chance just before half-time but his close range attempt missed the target.
The second half nearly started with goal when Dadson robbed Doyle and tried to find Cox with a low cross, the striker just failing to make contact with a outstretched right foot. Billy Holland had a shot deflected over the bar moments later. Cox headed over from the resulting corner.
Chances continued to come for the Millers but Justham was equal to them.
Steve Butterworth had a rare chance for Brentwood, collecting a nod down from a corner but Worster was there to block the shot. With fifteen minutes remaining Doyle had a chance for the visitors but volleyed over from the edge of the Penalty Area.
Brentwood’s Lee Blackburn was dismissed in the 83rd minute for showing his studs in a tackle.
Billy Holland could have put the icing on the cake with a penalty in the 90th minute, his spot kick however was pushed onto the left hand post by Justham.
