Millers bounce back to beat resurgent Ware.

Millers bounce back to beat resurgent Ware.

Scott Hatley

Aveley bounced back from two disappointing defeats by beating a much improved Ware 2-0 at Wodson Park.

Goals from Lee Weemes and a tenth goal of the season from Kyle Asante were enough to see off the Hertfordshire side that are battling against relegation.

Below is Bill Spink’s report from the Ware official website;

Ware went down 2-0 after squandering several missed chances to get something out the game.

Ware began well with Marcus Milner and Kieran Bishop combing well with the latter running through on goal with the keeper just managing to gather the ball before Kieran Bishop could make contact.

Another chance was there for the taking when Kieran Bishop, Albert Donyinah and Marcus Milner combined with the latter crossing into the penalty area and with the keeper coming out to pluck the ball out of the air.

Aveley then had their first chance when Michael Begg fired over the bar and soon after Brian Okwera headed over the bar, and Ware’s Kieran Bishop had a chance to give his side the lead when he met a cross in front of goal and headed wide.

Aveley made the breakthrough on thirty one minutes when Ware’s Erol Hassan slipped when trying to get to a wayward pass by Aryan Tajbakhsh and Lee Weemes nipped in and ran on to round the keeper and fire into an empty net to give his side a 1-0 lead.

Ware then came back at Aveley when Khale Da Costa, Marcus Milner and Aryan Tajbakhsh combined to give Kieran Bishop the opportunity to shoot at goal but the keeper saved and fumbled the ball and gathered at the second attempt and another chance fell to Kieran Bishop who headed over a Bafode Carvalho cross.

Another attempt by Bafode Carvalho came but he hit his shot into the ground and the keeper made a comfortable save.

Ware started the second half with early chances when a Marcus Milner fired a shot over the bar after good work by Murat Karagul and then Erol Hassan and Marcus Milner combined to put through Kieran Bishop but his shot went wide of the near post.

Aveley were defending doggedly and were determined to hold on to their lead with their captain Billy Holland leading the way. Ware however were pressing at every opportunity putting Aveley under some extreme pressure but Aveley were holding on and trying to hit Ware on the break with Ware also defending doggedly themselves.

Ware continued to pressure Aveley for most of the half and was unlucky when a cross came in and Kieran Bishop slipped over when going for the ball which ran on and out of play.

As the game entered injury time Kyle Asante hit a screamer of a shot from nowhere into the top right hand corner and give Aveley a 2-0 win.

Ware can count themselves extremely unlucky but were undone by missed chances and on another day could have ran out comfortable winners.
