Aveley comfortably beat Carshalton to move upto third

Aveley 4, Carshalton Athletic 0

AVELEY produced an excellent performance to bring about Carshalton’s first defeat of the season in emphatic style.
The Millers produced a first half to remember, going three goals to the good in quick succession before completing the win in the latter stages.
After the match Aveley boss Rod Stringer was delighted with his team’s performance, particularly in the first half: “We were excellent in the opening 45 minutes with three great goals from the team and that made it difficult for them to come back at us.”
“Coming off of Monday’s performance I am particularly pleased and we began to look like we did against Kingstonian and we thoroughly deserved the win and we restricted Carshalton to very little in front of goal.”
Carshalton boss Hayden Bird echoed Stringer’s thoughts saying: “The result was fair, Aveley played very well and we didn’t for at least the first half which led to us getting exactly what we deserved.”
“Carshalton were pathetic but I don’t want to go into it too much because it doesn’t give Aveley enough credit.”
Very little was created in the opening twenty minutes but Martin Tuohy missed an excellent opportunity as he fired over after being laid on by Sherwin Stanley.
But the game sprung into life as Aveley took the lead.
Tuohy made up for his earlier miss by finding Sherwin Stanley in the box after 23 minutes and the striker rose highest to head past Matt Reed despite his best efforts.
Carshalton looked bereft of ideas and the closest they came to scoring was through Richard Jolly but Jamie Lunan was equal to the effort.
The Millers were in the ascendency and soon doubled their advantage after 25 minutes as Matt Johnson’s through ball found Junior Dadson and the winger superbly shot past Reed into the top corner of the net.
Dadson was unfortunate not to add to his tally after he moved in from the left only to see his effort rattle the post and bounce to safety.
But it was not long until Aveley had opened up the three goal cushion before the break as Dadson turned provider to find Mitch Hahn free at the back post to soundly volley home.
Carshalton made three changes at half time and although they looked slightly more threatening the result was never in doubt.
Dadson again hit the bar, before the Robins failed to take advantage of a slip up in the host’s backline with Jack McLeod curling his effort the wrong side of the post.
The visitors again missed a golden opportunity to at least gain a consolation as Adrian Stone was gifted the ball in the area but Lunan was on hand to push the ball away from danger..
And the Millers sealed the win in the final minute of the game as sub Sam Lechmere was bundled over in the box by Adrian Toppin and Doyle stepped up to send Reed the wrong way and complete an excellent team performance for the home side.
Aveley: Jamie Lunan, Ryan Doyle, Sam Holloway, Nicky Symons (Lee Blackburn 79), Michael Alaile, Richard Ketchell, Mitch Hahn (Sam Lechmere 85), Matt Johnson, Sherwin Stanley (Piers Wixon 75), Martin Tuohy, Junior Dadson.
