Nicky Symons had the first attempt on goal when he shot wide from long range.
Ryan Hayes opened the scoring for The Darts after seventeen minutes when he flicked in a low cross from the right.
Five minutes later Ryan Edgar tried his luck from the edge of the box but Andrew Young in the Dartford goal was equal to it. A Junior Dadson shot then failed to test The Darts keeper as it flew over the bar. Dadson then turned provider as he set up Matt Johnson but his shot was tipped around the left hand post by Young. It was Martin Tuohy’s turn next, his shot from inside the box was saved by Young with his legs. From the resulting corner Symons shot and there were loud appeals for handball against a Dartford defender but these were waved away by the Referee.
Edgar hit the equaliser for Aveley in the 33rd minute. Good foot work by Junior Dadson put Edgar in space and he hit a crisp shot beyond the outstretched hand of Young into the bottom right-hand corner.
Six minutes before the interval Aveley’s Ryan Doyle went down in his own Penalty Area whilst awaiting a Dartford free kick. A melee ensued and the result was a sending off for The Darts’ Adam Flanagan and two yellow cards against The Millers.
Dartford regained the lead within a minute of the restart. Jamie Coyle heading in at the far post from a corner.
Sherwin Stanley had a chance for Aveley when he got on the end of a long ball into the box from Michael Alaile but Young was out swiftly to smother the ball.
Twenty-one minutes into the second half a long ball into the Aveley Penalty Area resulted in a goalmouth scramble with Jay May getting the final touch for Dartford’s third goal of the afternoon.
With twelve minutes left May thought he had a second but a good effort was ruled out for offside.
Symons then had a chance for the Millers, hitting the bar from thirty yards. Young made a good save to a shot from the rebound.
Two minutes from the end of added time Hayes wrapped things up when he scored at the second attempt after Jamie Lunan saved the first with his legs.
