The Millers recorded a victory at Parkside over Coggeshall Town after hitting five goals on Saturday afternoon.

Aveley were on top throughout the first half and inside ten minutes took the lead after Alex Akrofi was slipped in, and of course, he made no mistake as he slotted home his 21st league goal of the season.

It was just one way traffic at Parkside as Aveley looked to double the lead, Coggeshall keeper Canfer was busy the whole game as he denied Jon Benton from long range, tipping Benton's effort round the post for a corner. From the resulting corner Benton found centre half Ryan Scott who saw his header scrambled away as the visitors held on.

A potential contender for moment of the season saw Millers Captain Connor Witherspoon go on a marauding run as he dribbled past three Coggeshall players, cut it back to Alex Akrofi who fired just wide of the right hand post.

The second goal was coming and after 28 minutes Aveley found it. Jon Benton clipped a ball to the back post finding Alex Akrofi who calmly headed back to his striker partner George Sykes who applied the finish to double Aveley's lead.

The visitors had their first shot on goal on the stroke of half time with David Hughes called into action who applied the comfortable save tipping it around the post, the resulting corner summed up The Seedgrowers first half performance as it floated over everyone's head and out for a goal-kick.

Coggeshall started the brighter of the two sides in the opening exchanges with Ross Wall being denied by David Hughes who was well positioned to save the Coggeshall strikers header from a corner.

Aryton Coley got in behind for the visitors for the first time in the game, but flashed his effort past the right hand post.

After those chances, Aveley upped the gear and looked for a third to kill the game off and Manny Ogunrinde almost found that touch, his first touch after coming on saw his effort finger-tipped onto the base of the left hand post and bounce to safety.

The pressure was mounting and The Millers found that third goal, Jon Benton took the corner and it flew straight past everyone and into the back of the net after the keeper let it go straight through his hands.

Aveley should've had a penalty five minutes later, Manny Ogunrinde got in behind for the second time, knocked the ball away from the on-rushing keeper who cleaned him out, however, a corner was awarded which saw Rob Strachan head over the bar.

We didn't have to wait long for a fourth goal and George Sykes broke the offisde trap, dinked the ball over the keeper, and then cool as you like passed it into the empty net.

The hosts were forced to finish the game with nine men due to injuries which saw Coggeshall Town score, although a screamer from Dylan Logan who connected with the ball to thunder it in off the crossbar out of nowhere.

Not to be out-done, Jon Benton got his second of the game and Aveley's fifth of the match, a left footed strike which angled perfectly into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

The scoring wasn't done there as Coggeshall were finding gaps against 9-man Millers and Dylan Logan on the volley steread in another good finish to find the bottom right hand corner of the Aveley goal.
