With the injuries and the squad down to the bare bones the Millers could only field four substitutes, one being goalkeeper Jack Kelly as James Marrable returned from injury.
The Millers started well but couldn't really keep hold of the ball. The first real time the Millers went forward David Fallah played the ball into Lee Weemes, Lee passed it back to Fallah, he was tripped by Alex Stephenson, and the referee awarded the spot kick. Billy Holland stepped up and saw his effort pushed aside by ex-Aveley keeper Jack Giddens in the Billericay goal to keep the scores level.
Billericay at times showed why they were a level above with the dominance on the ball in spells throughout the match, but on the 20th minute a ball into the box was headed towards goal by the experienced Jamie Guy and his header looped onto the crossbar.
The Ryman Premier League side used their height to try and gain an advantage as the pumped the ball up field time after time but all; Perry Dunn, Spencer Harrison and Junior Baker were different class, as they headed, hoofed everything that came their way.
Against the run of play the Millers took the lead. Paul Preston did fantastically down the right hand side and skilfully went past Teddy Nesbitt as he left him for dead. Preston then crossed into the six yard box, where Lee Weemes was on hand to tap in. Billericay 0-1 Aveley FC.
With the first half coming to an end the hosts had two glorious chances. The first one came as Jamie Guy made space for Lewis Manor but he fired wide when the goal was gaping. The second chance again was Lewis Manor, this time he stood up Junior Baker with his back to goal but Manor just squeezed the ball wide of the target.
Half Time- Billericay 0-1 Aveley FC.
Only a few minutes went in the second half and really Billericay should have equalised. Somehow the ball was palmed and squeezed away by James Marrable in the Aveley goal, really Shane Stamp only needed a touch to score but on the night the ball just wouldn't go in for the hosts.
Lee Weemes was awarded a yellow card on the 50th minute after Jack Giddens smashed the ball at his back from five yards away as he tried to take a quick free kick.
From the retaken free kick the ball landed perfectly for Jamie Guy, but he volleyed over the bar after the first mistake at the back from the Millers defence.
With all the survived pressure Aveley doubled their lead. David Fallah won a corner after his shot deflected wide of the target. The corner was taken by Lee Prescott who whipped it into the back post, Spencer Harrison nodded it back into the middle, where Junior Baker smashed the ball into the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Billericay 0-2 Aveley FC.
Billericay carried on with their constant pressure and spent the rest of the time camped in our half. But with 20 minutes left the hosts got their goal which they had deserved. It landed to Tom Jerry who six yards out fired his shot towards goal, Perry Dunn almost cleared it away but the pace on the shot took it into the bottom corner. Billericay 1-2 Aveley FC.
David Fallah was substituted with 15 minutes remaining (including added on time), and due to the fact he walked off the pitch slowly the referee handed him the yellow card. However the linesmen believed that Fallah had already been in the book for blocking the free kick (which in fact was Lee Weemes), the referee put trust into his linesmen and sent the player off, leaving the Millers with ten men. The referee does deserve credit however, after the game he admitted his mistake and that's all anyone involved with football can really ask for.
The time seemed to go by slowly going into the last few minutes. Two wonder saves from James Marrable denied the match going to added on time. Both the shots looked destined to hit the top corner of the net but somehow he tipped them both over the bar to send the Millers into the next round of the Alan Turvey Cup.
