The hosts took the lead with a header from a free kick. Ex-Millers Lamar Reynolds put the ball into the box and it was met by Jack Fowler who nodded into the top of the corner.
The moment the Millers were put even further against the odds when James Marrable was sent off. Both the attacker and Marrable collided, and for some reason the officials deemed that it was James MArrable who should be sent off. To add insult to injury, James Marrable was injured badly and now faces time on the sidelines recovering from the 50/50 collision.
With no goalkeeper on the bench, Justin Gardner called all the players in and asked who would like to go in goal. And on his debut Heige Orome, our right back, donned on the gloves to help the Millers cause.
Due to the long time out with the injury to Marrable, there was a lot of added on time and Heybridge Swifts struck again to make it 2-0. From around the penalty spot Barham fired past the stand in keeper.
Half Time- Heybridge Swifts 2-0 Aveley.
In the second half the Millers dominated the match and looked like the only team who looked like they could go on and score.
Aveley got right back in the match as Liam Nash made it 2 in 3 for 2016. His rocket halved the deficit and really made the game on.
The match turned sour after Lee Tonrow kicked one of the Millers players, it was spotted by the referee who sent him off. When he received the red card, he appeared to spit at the referee, which (if true) should see the player receive a huge ban from the football governing bodies.
Aveley made it 2-2 shortly after as Arian Retkoceri got on the scoresheet again after a right wing cross wasn’t cleared and Arian was on hand to stab home from close range.
Now it was the last twenty minutes and the Millers were in full control and had chances to win it, but the biggest sucker punch of all was to come for the Millers. After a little mistake at the back Lamar Reynolds cross found Barham who nodded in against the make-shift keeper to give the Swifts the victory against the run of play.
Full Time- Heybridge Swifts 3-2 Aveley.
