Millers Earn FA Trophy Replay

After an enthralling 90 minutes in a heavy pitch due to the rain the Peacocks and Millers battled it out for a 3-3 draw. The Millers led twice with the second lead being pegged back in the 85th minute, which meant a replay was forced tonight at Parkside.

We made a great start to the game as The Millers took the lead inside ten minutes, ball over the top from the midfield, forward George Sykes out paced his defensive marker to latch onto the ball and fired towards goa, but before the keeper can collect it The Millers top scorer Alex Akrofi nipped in and deflected the ball past the keeper. Taunton Town 0-1 Aveley.

We almost doubled our lead but a great save from Taunton's Lloyd Irish pushed it out for a corner, from the resulting corner we almost scored again, the corner came into the near post and Harry Gibbs just headed narrowly wide of the post.

Minutes after our back to back chances the hosts equalised somewhat against the run of play. Jamie Price connected with a cross with a fine header which found the top right hand corner of the goal. Taunton Town 1-1 Aveley.

The hosts then started to grow into the game and had one shot go well over the bar, but moments later they took the lead as Harry Kite fired in at the back post. Taunton Town 2-1 Aveley.

We didn't let our heads drop and created a couple of half chances. Taunton keeper punched straight to George Sykes who just fired wide of the post.

But the game could've been 3-1 but for a brilliant save by Millers Number One David Hughes as he somehow fingertipped the shot from Matt Wright over the crossbar.

Thanks to Hughesy's save we had a chance to get ourselves back level. After a foul, we had a free-kick on the edge of the area which Jason Raad brilliantly curled into the top right hand corner of the goal. Taunton Town 2-2 Aveley.

The second half was end to end and both teams went for the win. We had a couple of half chances which were both off target as did our hosts who had a few chances, which were simple saves for David Hughes.

With twenty minutes to go, we took the lead again. After work on the edge of the area from Connor Witherspoon and Alex Akrofi the ball landed to George Sykes who brilliantly got in and slotted home. Taunton Town 2-3 Aveley.

Minute after we re-took the lead David Hughes was in action with another brilliant save as he denied The Peacocks from point blank range to keep us in front.

The last ten minutes come and Taunton through everything at us, chance after chance came by and past and we thought we might have weathered the storm but a chance with five minutes to go finished by Ryan Brett who drilled home pulled them back level. Taunton 3-3 Aveley.

With three minutes to go we had one more chance, a good cross into the box was met by George Sykes but he flicked it just wide of the post.
