After a disappointing last result away at Romford in mid-week, the Millers bounced back with a good win in the FA Trophy against a Tooting & Mitcham team who were relegated from the Bostik Premier League last season.

Tom Richardson has been out the previous two games due to an injury and he came back with a bang within two minutes he chipped the keeper off his line from 30-35 yards out, after Alex Akrofi shovelled it across to Tom Richardson who applied the fantastic finish to put us ahead. Aveley 1-0 Tooting & Mitcham United.

Only two minutes after this and we were so close from doubling our lead, a wonderful cross into the box was met by the leaping Alex Akrofi who directed his header goalbound, but he had his effort tipped over the crossbar superbly.

Tooting had half chances, but didn't create much at all in the early stages, Sam Mvemba put off one of their players as he looked to have a shot on target. Eddie Dines had a chance which was a long ranged effort which moved around in the air, but David Hughes was on hand to make the save.

The Millers looked like if they wanted to attack and score they could, and a lovely ball from Harry Gibbs to Alex Akrofi led to our second goal. Gibbs found Alex Akrofi who controlled the ball superbly and finished with his left as he curled it into the top left corner of the goal. Aveley 2-0 Tooting & Mitcham.

We kept attacking and on the 30th minute Tom Richardson had a glorious chance, but on this occasion his attempted chip grazed the top of the crossbar. Tom had another chance four minutes later, the corner was played in short to him and his effort was blocked near the goal, it came back out to Andy Freeman who saw his cross fingertipped over the bar.

We started the second half like we did the first, on top and dominant with the ball, Alex Akrofi was taken out just outside the area. Andy Freeman laid it off to George Doyle who saw his goal bound shot take a flick off Tooting played for a corner.

Alex Akrofi thought he had got his second of the game on the 55th minute after great work from Sam Mvemba, Sam crossed into Akrofi who finished well, only to see the linesmen's flag raised.

Aveley weren't to be denied a more than deserved third goal from a corner Andy Freeman crossed to the near post when Tom Richardson managed to flick it into the goal for his second and our third goal of the game. Aveley 3-0 Tooting & Mitcham.

Just after the 60th minute Tom Richardson almost got his hat-trick after Alex Akrofi put him through on goal, from a narrow angle he tried lofting the ball into the far corner, but he was just off target.

Tooting got their consolation goal a few minutes after the chance above, and it was an excellent goal. The ball dropped to substitute Morgan-Griffiths and he fired a fantastic strike into the top corner, leaving David Hughes with no chance saving it. Aveley 3-1 Tooting & Mitcham.

Despite that goal making it a 2 goal game, the Millers continued looking to score more, Alex Akrofi created his own chance as he wriggled on the edge of the area, got a shot off but it was well saved by the keeper. Minutes after that shot, we somehow didn't make it 4-1, George Doyle had his shot blocked it came to Andy Freeman who squared it to Alex Akrofi who looked like he was about to score but he then dribbled around the keeper, passed it into the bottom corner of the goal, but the Tooting defender was in the right place at the right time to clear the ball away.
