Prior to signing for Margate, Benas played for Tower Hamlets guiding them to survival in the SCEFL, at Step 5. Due to Benas' success at that level he caught the eye of Margate who snapped him up and he delivered getting them to a cup final and just outside the play-offs in the Isthmian Premier League last season.
