We are delighted to announce that we have appointed Chris Hurd as our new Head Coach for the 2020/2021 season. Chris may be a familiar face to some after he spent a season playing for Avonmouth during the 2015/16 season in South West1West.
Chris is an RFU Level 3 qualified coach who works full time as a Community Rugby Coach with the RFU. Over the years he has built his CV with experiences at Weston College, Weston-Super-Mare RFC, head coach rolls at Castle Cary RFC & Gordano where he helped gain them promotion from Somerset Prem in 2017/18. Most notably to add to Chris’s experience he was involved in the England camp as a support coach during the 2017 RBS 6 Nations campaign & during the build-up camps to the 2019 World Cup.

Chris stepped away from his role as Head Coach with Gordano RFC at the end of the 2018/19 season to take time out for his new family and after a year away from coaching on the side of his RFU employment feels that Avonmouth would be a great opportunity to get back to coaching within the combination, at a club he himself enjoyed time at. We know Chris & what he brings as a coach and we feel his experiences whilst playing at Avonmouth will be invaluable in our shared goals over the next few years.
