Flood Lights Switched On...

Its been nearly 5 years since our mini/junior section, parents and a select few senior members took part in a sponsored triathlon to raise funds to kick start a project that many felt would be un-achievable. Just under £14,000 was raised from the triathlon which was a staggering amount, this money enabled Jayne & Paul Giltrow to start proceedings to obtain Grants and Funding for the far end of the plateau to be developed as a fully drained, fully flood lit surface. This area had been raised some 15 years ago and deemed to unsafe to use as a playing surface due to its high risk of flooding, uneven surface and steep banks.
Pre-season last summer saw the work begin and the drainage installed, the pitch was seeded and left to root until this week where the floodlights were erected and wired up.
Last night we held our Club AGM and Jayne & Paul Giltrow, Martyn Groves and a select few were on hand to witness their hard work pay off as the flood lights were switched on for the very first time.
Only the posts are left to erect and then we will be able to utilise this amazing addition to the club. Predominantly the surface will be utilised by our mini and junior section for training and match days but the addition of it in itself will relieve both the 1st team pitch and 2nd team pitches of wear throughout the season.

Once again CONGRATULATIONS to all who took part in the Triathlon itself, who rallied, supported and helped raise funds for it and to Jayne Giltrow, Paul Giltrow and Martyn Groves for the thankless task of pushing all of the paperwork, meetings, funding and Grants. Without our members this wouldn't of been possible.
The facility will be used and enjoyed by all of our members for years to come!!

The new pitch will officially be opened in August/September for the Mini/Junior registration day/ Claire Evans memorial day. (Date to Follow...)
