Aylesbury FC 2 Leighton Town 0
Moles Through to Charity Cup Final After Defeating Local Rivals
FC went into this game on a high after the defeat of Bedford on Saturday. Josh Thompson came into the starting line up for his Moles debut and Davis Haule replaced Elliott Amdieu in midfield.
This was always going to be a tough game with Leighton on a good run and two one up from the first leg, but it was the home side that took the game to Leighton forcing a couple of early corners. The first real chance fell to Ty Deacon after just nine minutes when excellent persistence from man of the match Bruno Brito enabled him to feed in Deacon but the ball was cleared by Kyle Davison.
New keeper Josh Thompson had his first opportunity to impress on eleven minutes, Silford was through on goal, his chip to the back post was kept in by Faulkner and his returning cross was volleyed by Silford but straight down the throat of the FC keeper. Aylesbury took the lead on twenty one minutes, Ryan Young left Matt Hall for dead on the right wing, his low cross was parried away by the Leighton keeper but only into the path of Bruno Brito who blasted the ball home into an empty net to tie the aggregate score. This early goal gave the home side confidence as they were now dominating play, soon after a mazy run by Paul Field was stopped when he was cynically hacked down but the inviting ball from the resultant free kick didn't find anyone in a red shirt and the ball drifted narrowley past the back post.
Aylesbury doubled the lead just before the break, another superb run from Young saw him lay the ball off to Deacon and his cross was met by Brito on the edge of the box and he smashed a volley passed Wyant who just couldn't keep the ball out.
Half Time Aylesbury 2 (3) - Leighton Town 0 (2)
The second half started much as the first had ended with Aylesbury looking the stronger and more composed side, but on sixty minutes Leighton had their first real chance, a crazy scramble in the FC area following a cracking Matt Hall corner, and a few well hit Leighton efforts are well saved by Thompson, keeping the FC lead intact.
Ryan Young was having a field day down the right against Matt Hall, after yet another storming run down the right-flank, he reached the byeline, Deacon is screaming for it in the six yard box for an easy cut back, but Young opted to go it alone and fired into the side netting.
As the game drew to a close it was Leighton who were searching for the equaliser, pushing the home side back without ever really creating anything, then on the break just before the end of the game there was some super interplay between Brian Haule and Ty Deacon, Deacon traversed a couple of challenges, before cutting it back to Haule but his effort was blocked en route to goal.
Aylesbury will now face either Winslow or Buckingham in the Final on the 1st May 2019
