New season, new sponsor, new kits, new balls, new joy!

As the players marched down the slope from the Bedgrove car park towards the pitches I doubt that even they expected to play so well together in their first match. Proudly wearing their brand new kits, the teams lined up to face first Princes Risborough and then Haddenham, both of whom played well and looked particularly dangerous when counter attacking.

The effort and energy provided by each player was boundless. The team paid the price as they began to tire in the final stages of our second match but the players had already enjoyed the buzzes that come from goals, brave blocks and match winning saves. The season has started, and so has our new look team!

Euan played twice in defense and once in midfield. Euan had confidence to drive forward with the ball and had two memorable strikes, the second of which found a goalkeeper in top form.

Alfie played as central midfielder, goalkeeper and defender. Alfie bossed the midfield in our first match and made a stunning one handed save, while falling backwards in our second match. Oh, and scored a superb goal.

Adam formed a formidable defensive partnership with Euan in our first match, played in defense in our second match and then played in midfield. Adam timed his tackles extremely well today and was really unlucky not to receive passes when in good shooting positions as midfielder.

George played twice in defense and once in midfield. George was sent forward for our corners and played with determination and mobility as midfielder. I was very impressed with how George dealt with Haddenham wingers, after winning the ball close to the touch line he turned away from goal and towards the touch line to minimise the danger. Perfect fullback play.

Matte was immense today. Played as a winger Matte flew down the wing, his end product was great, his hard work generally resulted in a shot or a cross. We asked him to focus on reaching the touchline with his runs and he did just that. His work rate was brilliant.

Jay Jay captained the team today. Playing twice in midfield, once as striker and finally as our goalkeeper. Jay Jay made a fine save and was always a threat when attacking. Jay Jay enjoyed the goal scoring moment, celebrating by high fiving the teams new sponsor!

Austin reminded us what a powerful strike he possesses. Taking a long range free kick, the ball was still accelerating as it struck a firm pair of goalkeepers hands. Austin played well in defense, twice in midfield and once in goal.

Jacob P played as striker and once in goal. Jacob hunted down the ball and took good corners, working well with Jay Jay. Jacob took his goal very well and made an inspector gadget save diving low to his right hand side.
Well done to the whole team.

Thanks to Russell for refereeing, the Haddenham manager made a point of commending his fairness to both teams.

Goals: Matte x 1, Jay Jay x 2, Jacob P x 1, Alfie x 1.
Assists: Matte x 3, Jay Jay x 1.

The JAW Building Services Man of the Match Awards went to Matte & Alfie.
