Our performance was top sleaze. We were sleazy... (Ask G)
The conditions, for the want of a better word, were dank, so very dank. The ball, a bar of soap. The pitch, a bog but the Ath adapted perfectly. Keeping it the pack, keeping the moves simple and the defence unbreakable. It was a great team performance.
The Ath’s first try came from great sustained pressure from the Ath pack, winning scrum after scrum and carrying well in the loose. From a scrum the ball went wide with Andrew Darkins going one in the corner, not converted.
The second try came in similar fashion with the Ath pack carrying hard and making yards. The ball recycled quickly saw G crash over for his first try, not converted.
Half time 10-0
The Ath picked up where they left of and continue to apply pressure. It was not long before the Ath were back on the Ashby try line before Sean Tolhurst bulldozed over taking a couple of players with him, converted.
The Ath’s last try was a mirror image of their second, more excellent pod work saw the Ath make yards before G taking a crash ball went over for his second, not converted.
Full time 22-0
