BAA progress to the quarter final of the County Cup

Ah....the County Cup....former BAA manager Trevor Bishop once said "The County Cup is the pinnacle of any Sunday League footballer"....I cant argue. She can be kind....2008......she can be heart breaking.....2004.....(2014 for Harts).....she can be a right bitch.....2017! But it's the one to win...the champions league of Sunday Football!

BAA were once again short of a full squad but everyone gave there all who was part of the squad on the day. After three defeats in a row BAA looked to bounce back. The team lined up with a 4-4-2 formation, but the midfield was a diamond without any wingers. Guess Jordan found a new formation on Fifa 20. The team started with the FKW Jordan in goal, Shane moved to right back with Captain 'I told my missus shes gotta get up to see to the kids cuz I'm going football' Brad and Martyn Harvester in central defence with Luke 'I played for the first team' Phillips at left back. (pssssst....Luke....this is the first team). The midfield diamond was Jack. The other others in that midfield ;) were Cookie, Lamps and Callum Wheeeliehandy. Playing off the striker was the man with a reputation, don't know him myself...Dennis, with his bff upfront, Harts. They must of been BFF's, only passed to each other :p (yeah you liked that didn't you Harts)

We had faced Arnos Rangers a twice before in the last three seasons. Back in the 2016-17 season BAA won 5-1 (click here for that match report) Then last season they when they met BAA won 2-0 when Luke Shea and Jordan Hart grabbed a goal each. Both matches were tough games and BAA expected the same with Arnos Rangers sitting 4th in Division 4 of the Barnet Sunday League with a couple of recent big wins.

BAA couldn’t have got off to a better start when they took the lead in the first minute, all the hard work came from Jordan Hart as he raced down the left wing, beat two players and crossed into the box for Josh Neary to flick in at the front post and give BAA the lead, it was an impressive goal. Such an early goal seemed to shell-shock Arnos who struggled as BAA dominated the early play. Jordan Hart then 'scored' two quick goals which saw the Arnos goalkeeper at fault for both efforts as the shots slipped through his hands. Harts said he's claiming the goals though, however if anyone else wants to claim them they have a good chance of being credited with them! There was some pressure on the BAA defence as Arnos looked to get back in the game but a number of good tackles from Shane Bull helped ensure Arnos didn’t score. Martyn had a solid game as he moved from midfield to defence, and previously from sub to linesman....one day we will find his best position.

Lukey Phillips had a good, solid game at left back. I know there are rumours floating about that he has the most appearances this season because hes the managers brother. Ive never said that, but I have heard the whispers. Now I dont like when that happens because when there's a fire, people get burnt. So I always do my best to put the flames out by pouring petrol on them.

I was a bit....suspect of the whole diamond formation, but I'm still on Fifa 17 so it may be a new tactic. However, it worked! Cookie worked hard, he was like an old steam train, powerful, kept chugging along...and constantly blowing. Callum did a job in midfield, and he did well. I know I know...it always gets the better of him, like an excited little dog running around with its ball....tail wagging..... He listened in the first half but when we were 5-0 up he was bound to go off and do his own thing....bad doggy. That's why we were all thankful that his goal was disallowed, otherwise he will think he was right....came slowly walking back into position with his tail between his legs.

Jack Stevens was rewarded for his hard work in midfield when he ran onto a through ball and slotted the ball past the Arnos keeper to make it 4-0. Someone said to me on the sideline, hes dont more talking in the two games hes been here then some players all season. I agree with you Tyler. Jordan Hart completed his hat trick just before half time as BAA went in 5-0 up.

Now, I always warn against complacency, hence the half time talk. We only won the second half 2-0 and they had a few chances, but thankfully, Jordan, Martyn and Brad made some vital stops and tackles. Its not won until its over.

The second half was a tighter game and Arnos had chances to score, BAA goalkeeper Jordan Phillips made a fine save with an outstretched foot from a shot and captain Bradley Stone cleared a goal bound effort off of the line after the shot had gone past the out rushing goalkeeper. At the other end Neary grabbed a second before Jordan Hart was brought down for a penalty. Sean Haylock stepped up to score and made it 7-0 for an impressive win....just as the keeper had saved it before the power of the shot took the ball in over the line. Hard man Brad Stone then had to go off cuz his toe hurt and Jay came on, it shows how much attention he's paid this season as he found out five months into the season that Jason's not the manager....Jesus....

Simon Cooke had an impressive game in midfield as did Martyn Harvey in defence, there could be an argument for Jack to be man of the match but Jordan Hart was named man of the match with three goals and four assists, you cant argue with those stats.....even if he does only pass to his mate.
