The 2024 season started on the Island's hottest day of the year, and this warm return to hockey saw Bacchas Mixed A face Vikings Mixed B, a team who had beat us only a few seasons ago. The Bacchas side had a slow start to the game creating plenty of chances but failing to score each time. Pushing on, skipper Elliot Reid found an open channel, creating a long range opportunity into the D and finding the stick of Andrew Whiting who finally opened the scoring before both teams going in of a well need half time break.

Vikings B came out full force in the second half, but the Bacchas whites slowly grew into the game doubling their lead 2-0, however this was quickly pressured by a counter goal by the youthful Vikings side bringing the score line back to 2-1 with only 15 minutes to go. Finally the rusty whites side turned well oiled machines, finding their rhythm and netting 4 goals in quick succession; Emma Courtie 1, Elliot Reid 2 and Andy Whiting 1 securing his third and completing a hat-trick in the first game back.

Player of the Match went to goal keeper Dom Howard - for his key saves especially in the first half keeping the Bacchas side in the game.

Overall a good start to the season, with the team looking to continue and build upon this weeks performance going into the next fixtures.
