Badshot Lea manager Trevor Norris was left dismayed at some key decisions from the match officials, at Bedfont Sports on Tuesday night. The young Baggies side took the lead when David McCallum beat the Bedfont left back, and playing Rob Parrott in, knocked home the rebound after his shot was parried by the keeper. However, Bedfont responded with two strikes, to go into the break with a 2-1 lead.
In the second period, Elliott Amadieu was clearly fouled in the centre circle, with his shorts ripped in the tussle. However, inexplicably Bedfont were awarded a free kick. Whilst the referee discussed the award with Badshot Lea players, the kick was taken and the resulting ball into the box despatched, to give Bedfont a 3-1 advantage. With The Baggies pushing forward, Bedfont nicked a fourth. Before the home side were awarded a late penalty, after substitute Neil Hardy controlled the ball on his thigh. The home crowd and players, left aghast at the decision to award a spot kick for alleged handball. "When my players have a poor game, we discuss it like men, in the dressing room afterwards. When match officials have a poor game, who is accountable? We have conceded two goals tonight due to very poor decisions from the match officials." Said Baggies manager Trevor Norris.
Badshot Lea debuted former Aldershot youth player Ben Easey, to add to their batch of recent signings. Centre back Nick Grosvenor was awarded the MOTM for his performance, demonstrating that he is developing the right qualities, to be a success in non-league football.
