Cautions: S.Norris (2)
Kickoff time was delayed by ten minutes, due to the late arrival of several Croydon players.
Although it was Badshot Lea who played the opening forty five minutes, as if they had been held up on the M25. The Baggies showed little purpose going forward, and failed to test the stand-in visiting keeper, until a Sean Davies shot in the 75th minute. Jack Howard retired injured on 35 minutes, after a clash. Meanwhile Baggies number eight Scott Norris, was first cautioned for a challenge on his Trams' opposite number. Then on the hour, dismissed for a second caution, after a collision with Croydon's lively number eleven.
With ten minutes remaining, a ball over the top was controlled by the same Croydon number 11, with his upper right arm. A move more appropriate to a basketball match. Amazingly, neither the assistant or the referee saw the offence. The player had the presence of mind to outpace Nick Grosvenor and Sean Davies. As Will Dukes raced to narrow the angle, the Trams' striker's shot hit the foot of the right hand upright. However, he was quickest to the rebounding ball and tapped into the empty net unchallenged. The Baggies put increased pressure on the Croydon goal, but despite shots from Steve Duff and Darren Blake, were unable to salvage anything.
