MOTM Jack Howard hit two goals to put The Baggies on their way to victory, against Frimley Green. However it took an early goal from the visitors, to fire up the home side. On six minutes, Frimley's Dan Symonds struck a shot from a tight angle, ably saved by Will Dukes. The ball spun from Dukes' gloves, but defenders froze as Stamp knock in the rebound. Straight from the re-start, The Baggies attacked with Darren Blake, Nathan Connolly and James Pilgrim involved. The move resulted in a 20 yard bullet shot from Jack Howard, with stopper Norman unable to prevent The Baggies winning immediate parity. The goal boosted the home side, as Rob Parrott and Blake carved out opportunities, though stifled by the visitors back line.
Several times skipper Parrott skipped past Green's left back Primett, feeding Seb Costello, Connolly and Blake, but Norman denied them all from close range. Just past the half hour, Costello was floored by Eagles, on the penalty area line and dead centre. Norman constructed a five man wall, though only on the penalty spot - which is actually only six yards from the forty four yard line. Howard struck the free kick with precision accuracy, with Norman diving too late to prevent The Baggies hitting the back of the net twice.
In the second period, The Lea looked the stronger side. With Scott Norris and James Pilgrim dominating central areas, whilst Cam Blackie excelled at the back - delivering deep free kicks with aplomb. Nick Grosvenor further demonstrated ability, putting pressure on the visitors defence, with forward runs. Davies showed experience, preventing crosses from the visitors right hand side. Whilst up top, Nathan Connolly got into danger areas on several occasions, but could not find the back of the net. On seventy minutes, David McCallum replaced Connolly - making an immediate impact. The former Fleet Town striker dispossessed Primett, to deliver a searching cross from the byline. Seb Costello was alive to the opportunity, drilling the ball past Norman from eight yards, to give The Baggies a deserved cushion. Soon afterwards, a strong hailstorm hit Shawfield Stadium, threatening the games conclusion. Though despite the change in surface conditions, both sides continued to play attacking football. Liam Fogarty made his first team debut, replacing goalscorer Costello. In the last five minutes, Blackie pinged in two deep free kicks, but Norman thwarted Blake and McCallum.
The Baggies make the short trip this Tuesday 25th March, to the away dressing room at Shawfield Stadium, to play hosts Ash United; in their first encounter this term. Kickoff 7.30pm - as this is an Away CCL fixture, normal Badshot Lea FC concessions will not apply.
