Badshot Lea drew their third successive CCL game, making it an unbeaten run of four - the first time this season The Baggies have achieved that milestone. The Bank Holiday Monday Derby game against Farnham Town, was however blighted by an early changing room mishap. Due to start at right back, Grant Turbridy was rushed to hospital after injuring himself, changing the pre-match music. All at Badshot Lea FC wish Grant a speedy recovery.
Manager Trevor Norris re-shuffled his pack, and The Baggies defence were solid with Nick Grosvenor and Mitchell Gutteridge central to that task. In the first period, the home side created goal chances through Neil Hardy, Elliot Amadieu and Mason Welch-Turner but were unable to convert. At the other end, keeper Will Dukes was largely untroubled by the Farnham attack, spearheaded by former Baggies goal ace, Luke Whiddett.
After the break, both sides showed the effects of an early kick-off and the unseasonal heat, and the football was at best patchy. However on 55 minutes, Rob Parrott chased a through ball from MOTM James Pilgrim and slotted home from the edge of the penalty area. With the possession stats favouring the home side, it looked like a second Badshot Lea goal would soon follow. The visitors had different ideas, as Farnham's Josh Dixon picked up the ball 35 yards from goal. The Farnham winger hit a screamer, that looped over Will Dukes and into the far corner of the net. Inspired by their one shot:one goal stat, the visitors upped their game. But it was The Baggies who came closest to a winner when Rob Parrott headed a Welch-Turner corner goalwards. The visiting stopper palmed the effort away for another corner.
At the final whistle, a third straight draw for Badshot Lea who celebrate four games unbeaten. With two games remaining, (Camberley (H) 26th Apr., Raynes Park Vale (A) 5thMay) Badshot Lea look set for a mid-table final position, but will be seeking maximum points from their last two CCL encounters of the 2013-14 season.
