Ash United belie their lowly league position, with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Shawfield Stadium ground-sharers, Badshot Lea.

Dismissals: None

Badshot Lea played their first game this season using the away dressing room at Shawfield Stadium, with catastrophic effect. Their hosts Ash United, struggling in the division's bottom three, did to The Baggies what top 5 sides Epsom & Ewell, Westfield and Camberley were unable to achieve. Although with a big helping hand for two goals, with Lea players twice heading the ball to Ash's Ben Small on the edge of the penalty area. Small duly despatched the ball into the net, twice. In addition, Ash's Gareth Dobson added a further two by out foxing an unusually static 'away' defence. Who, with the exception of the 'beach party' at Colliers Wood, had become difficult to score against under recently appointed manager Trevor Norris. Not to decry Ash United deserved plaudits for their victory, as the home side repeatedly toyed with The Baggies; and but for the bravery and agility of keeper MOTM Will Dukes, should probably have added another three.

It was difficult to believe that last Saturday's Baggies starting XI, who so capably defeated a strong Frimley Green side 3-1, could struggle so much against a lowly Ash line-up. However, as previously stated, Ash United deserve full credit for their performance with the two wide players - Ben Small and Taishan Hayden-Smith particularly causing The Baggies problems all night - with pace and agility on the ball. With this ability on tap, Ash United will surely pull away from the relegation zone in rapid order, as they will cause problems for sides higher in the league than 14th placed Badshot Lea. Manager Trevor Norris was philosophical in his approach to the defeat, and praised the victors on the night. " Ash were in the bottom three before kickoff, and are scrapping for every point. With their performance tonight, it is clear they have some exciting football talent available, and should be well clear of danger, come season end." Badshot Lea visit bottom of the table Chessington & Hook on Saturday, at Chalky Lane, Chessington. This time it is unlikely The Baggies will take a bottom three team for granted, and will be looking for a third CCL win in four outings.

BAGGIES: Dukes, Blackie, Grosvenor, Davies, Parrott (C), S. Norris (McCallum 70), Pilgrim (Osler 77), Howard,Costello, Connolly (Amadieu 75), Blake. Subs not used: Fogarty, N.Hardy.
