Mark Radcliffe's Galleon Blast LIVE (16 March 2019) POSTPONED

Saturday 16 March 2019, 20:00 to Sunday 17 March 2019, 00:00

Back to Calendar

Unfortunately due to Mark Radcliffe's ongoing recovery, Galleon Blast have had to postpone their Bamber Bridge gig again. I am sure everyone will understand that health and convalescence is paramount for Mark, and currently his recovery plan is preventing him from singing, therefore to ensure he is able to deliver to his great best, the 16th March date has had to be postponed. Bamber Bridge will discuss a new date later in the year, to ensure Mark has ample time to get back to his inimitable best. Refunds should you require one are available from place of purchase, but we hope everyone will support Mark on his return when he is fully fit. As soon as a new date is agreed we will publicise, to give Mark the best length of time, your patience is appreciated.

Host of BBC Radio 2's Folk Show and BBC6 Music's weekday show, Mark Radcliffe is bringing his band Galleon Blast to the Brig clubhouse on Saturday 16 March 2019 for an evening of pirate-themed musical shenanigans.

If you've not heard of Galleon Blast here's how they describe themselves:

Press ganged into service by an unscrupulous gangmaster from the Spanish Main (well….Knutsford actually), the swarthy seadogs of Galleon Blast occasionally get shore leave to ply their raggle-taggle trade wherever folk will have them. With a selection of rum-soaked songs and shanties, the Blasters whip up a squally strumming storm to get all and sundry friggin’ in the riggin’. With traditional tunes and many a seafaring classic from The Dubliners, The Waterboys, The Pogues, Thin Lizzy, The Fisherman’s Friends and Ewan MacColl; you can be sure that these diddly diddly deck-hands will get feet tapping from the poop to the crow’s nest. Galleon Blast feature banjos, whistles, accordions and fiddles from members of The Family Mahone, Full House and Mark Radcliffe and Foes, including the pirate dj himself Mr.Radcliffe – the Jack Sparrow of the Radio 2 Folk Show. Actually, make that the Jack Duckworth of the Radio 2 Folk Show. So, it’s all aboard the good ship Blast for a full-on broadside of buccaneering beat.

Pirate themed fancy dress is actively encouraged for this event (but not essential).

Our well-stocked CAMRA award winning bar will keep your refreshed between the singing and dancing. As always we offer a selection of real ales, premium lagers and of course as it's a Galleon Blast gig, rum!

Admission is by ticket only - details coming soon.

Car parking: There is ample car parking available at the club.
